  I am very disappointed with the tax filing services provided by H&R Block, Bloomington, IN. One of the executives promised us refund, only to know 7 months later after desperate follow-ups, from another executive that I am not entitled for any such refund in first place. My husband and I took help of H& R Block to file our taxes with very high expectations amidst the tall claims of getting every penny back. We used their services, despite my husband’s employer providing us free tax filings. We were new in the country and hence not familiar with the tax system of the nation. We wanted to file our taxes jointly as a couple but H&R Block executive advised us to file as individuals. They promised us much higher refunds than we were expecting. We were literally forced (brainwashed) to file separate taxes, to earn higher commissions. Its really hard to contact the representatives and the due diligence process is very sluggish. The Executives are poorly informed about the tax system. We wonder if the Executives are actually qualified to do the job. The IRS for the want of more information denied a part of my claim. After several desperate attempts to contact the H&R Block executive, we finally got to meet the Executive, who then informed us “not to worry as he’ll take care of the remainder of the paperwork required by the IRS”. I diligently shared all my personal information, including my paychecks. He said he’d send it across to IRS. After several follow-ups with IRS, I was informed that even after few months of notice to us, they haven’t received any document. Again after repeated attempts to contact the H&R block Executive, finally I sent all the documents myself. Once more the desperate attempts to get in touch with the Executive were made to finally help us get the refund back, which they have been claiming I will get back as I am most certainly entitled for that. But this time luckily or unluckily, I got to meet another Executive, who informed me that, I am not entitled for any such refund in first place. We are extremely dissatisfied with the services. Filing separately (as coaxed by them) hardly got us any benefits of the refunds. I will most certainly never go to H&R Block ever again, neither recommend them to friends and relatives.
